Butch

Picture
Butch, one week before his passing. He always loved sun bathing.
Butch was the result of the accidental breeding of a retired Siamese stud who had not yet been neutered and a foxy young Himalayan. :) The owner gave this spunky young kitten to her daughter as a present, but they soon realized that the young woman's pet bird wasn't going to survive this living arrangement!!! That is when Butch came to live with me.  He was 6 or 7 months old at the time, and I was only 7 years old.  Butch was the friskiest kitten with more than enough personality! At night, I could always count on him to curl up under the covers with me and keep me warm. His regal looks and dark blue eyes won him admirers throughout his whole life. Even in old age, my Mr. Blue Eyes was nothing if not gorgeous. When he was 16 years old, Butch was diagnosed with Feline Diabetes.  At first we thought this was the end for Butch, but he had always had a mind of his own. Butch fought on for another 2 years. With the help of daily insulin injections, a special diet change, and his own stubborn personality, Butch bounced back and felt like a kitten again. This year, on June 12, 2009, Butch passed away at the age of 18. He couldn't be more loved or missed.

My first cat, Nickles, is buried under the red rose bush on the left.  Butch's new grave is on the right under a young yellow rose bush. They were best friends in life, and now they will never be separated again.
