Sternwheel Cat Fanciers Show

(Columbus Oh, 1-7-2012)
This weekend we had 3 young babies enter their first cat show in Columbus Ohio. Camulus, Liam, and April Clover where the babies of the MC kitten class, having only just turned 4 months old, but that didn't stop our princess, Miss April Clover from snagging 2 best in colors, and one best of breed! Way to go Clover! What a great first impression!
We had a great time seeing friends and getting back into the groove. Already looking forward to our next show in Parma Ohio, coming up in 2 weeks!

FREE TO A GOOD HOME!!!!!!!!!

Picture
This sweet little girl is Abbie. She is a 5 year old Domestic Long Hair kitty. Her owners are no longer able to care for her and will be taking her to the pound if no one adopts her. She is a spayed, indoor only, cuddly sweet lap kitty. Very affectionate and well socialized with other cats and dogs. We would love to take her in, but are at our capacity for cats and dogs at this time. So, we want to do everything we can to help and find this girl a loving home! If you are interested and have room for this lovey girl, please send me an email!

*Update: This sweet girl has found a home!

URGENT!!!!

Hello Everyone,

Currently there is a crisis going on in for dogs in Harrison Co. Ohio, and they need our help if they are going to survive. The Ohio SPCA and the Appalachian SPCA have been battling the unforgivable conditions at the Harrison Co Dog Pound for some time now, but things have recently escalated. Dogs are being kept outside in below freezing temperatures in their own waste. Dogs are dying, Parvo is spreading, most dogs are freezing and going hungry. Good samaritans and rescue orgaizations are doing their best to free the dogs from this place and put them in good, respectable shelters and/or foster homes before the mass pound euthanasia that has been scheduled within the next several hours! Most of these dogs are in dire shape and need immediate and extensive vet care. Please take a moment to read more about the situation and then donate to the cause. I donated this morning, and now I'm asking that everyone tries to help. Even if it is just a little bit. It adds up! Check out these links:

I emailed Robin McClelland (with the AOSPCA)  last night to get more information on the situation and see how I could help. This is the response email she sent me:

I've been trying to respond to the dozen emails, but at 5 degrees with wind-chill, even dsl is worse than dialup would be tonight.

We sure could use some help.  Vetting is our biggest expense.  We have the mama and pup just dropped off at the pound after it closed on Sunday which were found in the icy snowy outside pen with no top and left there all day. Mom is eating and drinking, but shooting feces out of her hiney, and I suspect hook/whip worms and was correct.  She spewed blood out of her hiney the entire way to the vet.   We started her on Vit C, Immune and antibiotics as a precaution.  We just ordered about $500 of emergency supplies, parvo tests, slip leads, booties to cover shoes with plastic bottoms.

Stacy Skinner is handling the pulling and transporting of most of the animals, which is hard, as she is a nurse and sometimes works 12 hour shifts at night.  She got photos of all 8 remaining dogs and will get them to me,  but I think their photos and the conditions "inside" and "outside" this outdoor facility are posted and will be on our fb site as well.As of right now, there are five (5) dogs left in the pound and several more in fosters that need placed.

Our immediate need is:fostersmaterials for temp holding facility vet moneypull and gas moneytransporters

Three women here are helping these animals.  Stacy Skinner, Friend of the Pound Rescue Volunteer,  Darla Smith, Humane Agent  and myself.  Locals never will lift a finger.  This is just wrong.

We have a chip-in for a few of our needs on our fb page, and our paypal is aospca@frontier.com  Thanks for worrying about the dogs in this county and wanting to help.  We need all the help we can get.  We need lawyer money, for sure.  We need a real shelter for sure, NOT run by the county. We arranged for on of our animal hospitals in Belmont County to treat dogs in need as well as our northern county vet, Oak Pointe Animal Care in Dover, OH.  It is a two hour drive there and back regardless of which we use.  We need gas money.  None of us has an SUV, only cars so weather plays a factor in who we use. The lab with the ice on his belly and penis is at New Horizon Tonight.  He did test neg for parvo today, but could be positive tomorrow.  He is being examined due to the ice and fear of frostbite and spending the night there. I will be at the county commissioner meeting in the morning.Robin McClellandAppalachian Ohio SPCA, Inc.P.O. Columbus Show Last Weekend

Picture
December 4th was the Ohio State Persian Club Cat Show in Columbus Ohio. Our dear Igraine earned her winners ribbons that day, and is a proud new champion. Little Teagan made her debut in the showing world, and was the youngest kitten in her class! She was very classy though and acted like a lady. We are looking forward to January's Parma, Ohio show. Teagan and Igraine will be coming out again, and hopefully our little Bridget will be ready for her first kitten show!
