An eventful evening 10/28/2009

Well, it's time for another late night blog. For the most part, this has not been exactly the best week. Swine flu has made itself at my household, and I just can't seem to get enough sleep. Hopefully, we will be feeling healthy and normal again soon.
Sickly though we are, we did have some good/exciting news this evening. I have been house sitting for a friend of mine while she is out of the country for a little while, and tonight when I stopped by to clean up after, feed, and love on her cats for a few hours, I ended up staying much longer than anticipated to deliver a litter of kittens! :) I knew one of her mama cats was going to be due very soon, but I was guessing it was going to be a few more days before she delivered, but tonight was the night! Over the course of 4 hours, I helped deliver 3 of the most gorgeous little maine coon kittens in the world. Even though I was tired and feeling like I had been run over by a mac truck, it was probably the most fun I've had all week!  I'm just getting home now, but I can't wait to go visit them tomorrow!! But now for some much needed sleep....... :)

Ronan Tynan in Lexington, KY 10/11/2009

Last night, Ronan Tynan came to Lexington, Ky and performed at the Singletary Center for the Arts with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra.  If you don't know who Ronan Tynan is, google him! :) He is one of the original Irish Tenors, and QUITE a character! Last night's show was spectacular. We were entertained with 2 hours of  great talent. The orchestra was in great form, and Mr. Tynan gifted us with his sparkling wit and a repertoire of mostly Irish folksongs and art songs. Although I had a great time at the concert, upon arriving home, I got the cold shoulder from Lestat for the rest of the night! He was SO jealous I didn't take him with me to the concert. You might not believe this, but Lestat is a singer himself, and a huge fan of opera and classical music. :)  I am a classically trained musician myself, in both flute and voice, so music always pervades our house hold. Most of the cats and dogs just ignore it, but not Lestat. He has always been fascinated whenever his mommy songs. He will follow me around with wide eyes and alert ears. Over the past month, he has even started singing duets with me! Haha My neighbors must really wonder what is going on, I'll be singing Mozart and here comes Lestat cooing, trilling,  singing in all his Tom Cat glory!! You Tube beware! As soon as I figure video cameras out, I will be posting countless videos of this virtuoso cat! So, anyway, I think his feelings were pretty hurt last night when I went out for a night of classical music and left him behind. I think he's forgiven me now, though. I got a couple of coos out of him this afternoon with a rendition of "Danny Boy." lol

Growing Pains 10/06/2009

Hello everyone ! Sorry for the long absence. This has been a very busy Fall already. By the end of the day, I don't know where all the hours have gone! Life here has become especially topsy turvy as our dearest Lestat seems to be going through some hormonal growth spurts! He has all these "feelings"  and just doesn't seem to know what to do with them, so my house is suffering the consequences! Haha! The poor guy really needs a girlfriend. :) We currently need to replace a set of mini blinds, a lamp, a couple of nice glasses, a phone charger, a laptop charger, and the bathroom vallance! He even ate a formal contract a couple of days ago, and wouldn't let go when I tried to take it from him. Nothing is safe in our house for the time being! It's really rather amusing, no matter how frustrated we get. He's just so restless, and he is trying to be ever so helpful with household tasks... like cooking and doing the laundry and the dishes, and working on the computer... etc. :) I really need a video camera so I can capture these comedies for others to see. All of my cats have gone through interesting adolescent changes on their ways to becoming adults, but Lestat definitely takes the cake! And I have to say, I'm pretty excited with how he's grown over the last month. His sweet kitten face is becoming more and more feral every day, and he has final surpassed Ambrose as the biggest cat in our home.  His coat is coming in very nicely. I'm very proud of my baby boy! Now I just need to find a good show to enter him in soon! I've been having a very difficult time trying to find shows I can get to this fall and winter, but I will keep trying.  Lestat deserves the opportunity to show off! ;) Well, as much as I would love to stay on here and chat, the babies won't allow me to ignore them any longer!!! Thanks for checking in on us, and I promise to keep you updated!!
